Who would pay to watch TV ads??
Published 1 year, 2 months ago in Sport & Leisure.Just happened to see the World Rally Championships on Fox 3 at work, when it got interupted with commercials. I thought the whole idea of pay tv was to get rid of commercials, not actually pay to watch them!!!!!!!! I know what to say next time those pesky Fox sales people come knocking!

I find the majority of Foxtel adverts are actually advertising shows on foxtel. Occassionally you will get something else, but mostly it’s advetising shows on other channels, ones that you may not have.
I don’t have any sports channels, but most Tv shows are designed to have advertising, without each half hour show would only last 15-20 minutes and they would actually have to find more stuff to repeat.
At least I’ve got some choice on what to watch with Foxtel as there are so many channels, instead of the lousy 5/6 channels that are free to air. Does channel 31 still exist? Haven’t been able to get that one since I moved house 18 months ago.
The ads I saw on Fox 3 were the same as you see on free to air, not just promos. Ch. 31 is still on, it’s probably the only one worth watching in the afternoon, even if some of the programmes are from the 1950s.
Yes, Channel 31 does still exist, but has just been knocked back for Govt funding to go digital. It may not be around for much longer!
I’d pay to watch the latest Honda ad!!
We have had Austar for years it wasn’t called Austar when we got it, and I am sick to death of the ads, they are getting more and more, and they are not just advertising whats on the other channels, I am also sick of the repeats on Antiques roadshow, I would suggest that when you ring Austar it would be nice to be able to talk to someone, I just waited for over 20 mins. and hung up in the end, we pay over $100 every month for our service and would like them to lift their game, my husband is thinking of just going back to free to air and getting Austar cut off, not a very happy customer..Jill & Darryl Findlay.
